Your Backup is only as good as your Restore!

Now you know all about the differences of Hardware and Cloud Backups and you have contacted your favorite IT Solutions Company to get you started.  But you are not done, the next stage is about Data Restores.

A good and failed data restore can mean the difference between a slight computer setback and living through your own electronic apocalypse. But all data restores need to good reliable and tested back up.  If you have DLT, SDLT, 8MM tapes, external hard drives or a cloud solution backing your data you are only half way there; you need to ensure that in a disaster or just a deleted file/folder that you can recover the missing data.  I suggest that you test your backup system by restoring select files at least once a month.

If you rely on data to keep your business up and running I suggest to my clients to do a full data recovery at least once a year.  It is better to be proactive and know what is and isn’t going to be restored before you actually have to put your data recovery solution to the test.
